1. Bright, Indirect Light Is Ideal
Peace Lilies thrive in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate lower light conditions, making them perfect for indoor environments.
Avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves and cause the flowers to fade more quickly.
2. Keep the Soil Slightly Moist
Unlike many indoor plants, Peace Lilies prefer consistently moist soil.
Water your plant when the top 2 to 3 centimetres of soil begins to feel dry. In Malaysia’s warm climate, this is usually once a week, depending on the location.
One unique feature of the Peace Lily is that it will gently droop when it needs water. After watering, the leaves usually recover within a few hours.
3. Peace Lilies Love Humidity
As tropical plants, Peace Lilies enjoy warm, humid conditions.
They grow exceptionally well in Malaysia but also adapt well to air-conditioned offices. Occasionally misting the leaves or placing the plant near other greenery can help maintain healthy humidity levels.
4. Remove Old Flowers and Yellow Leaves
As flowers age, they naturally turn green before eventually becoming brown.
Simply trim spent flowers and remove yellowing leaves to encourage healthy new growth and keep the plant looking fresh.
5. Feed Every Few Months
A balanced liquid fertiliser every two to three months during the growing season will encourage lush foliage and regular flowering.
Avoid over-fertilising, as this can reduce flower production.
